Lol, I'm surprised I haven't seen more Mermay stuff like this yet. Very creative and almost surrealist. Love the expression of your character and the design of those cute lil goldfish.
Your post went through the art portal btw. I dunno, maybe it just takes a bit sometimes to process it.

Ruedefaux responds:

okay, well good to know. i couldnt find myself at all, and it was taking a long time to get votes, so i was like wondering if something happened.

ANYWAY. thank you :D i like approaching mermay in the weirdest way i possibly can because mermaids on their own are pretty restrictive. glad you enjoy~

Daw, you made them so cute together.

Smokymoka responds:

Thank you, I try :)

Nice job on the perspective, it feels a lot more subtle and natural than the other work you did with a similar angle. Those watercolor tats are also neat, it'd be cool to see those by themself.

She's got a cute design. The lighting from the sunset is well done, the orange background and light works even better because of her green skin tones. The pose is also nice like she's resting after a long day.

Lol, his little dance matches the beat to most of the songs I've been playing. Nice work, very cute.

I don't think Newgrounds really states what a sketch is, so I wouldn't worry about it to much; it might be more of a "what do you want people to judge you on?" type of thing. Id say this is a lot more polished than some of the post I've seen through the art portal. It's got good colors choices and a funny expression.

FierceFIYA responds:

Aaaah, I see. Thanks for the clarification!

Stupid sexy australian electricity review service mascot. Nice work on the shading and composition btw.

Nice work on her hair and how it interacts with the soft light of the city underneath and sky overhead, would have been cool if you did the rest of her body in that kind of more dramatic lighting but the colored highlights work well enough and I guess harder shadows would obscure the hard work you did on the body. Good work as always.

Her outfit design is neat, with the tearing bra and the necklace on the choker. The top lighting is also cool and not used often, the sharp highlights really work with your monochrome style.

It's still is neat to watch even if unfinished. The animation has good comedic timing, entertaining expressions, and a nice play with perspective, the part where she fumbles her phone has some fun looking poses.

KiwisBurntToast responds:

I think the reason I stopped was the fact that it had to do with mirrors and phone screens, which is a confusing mess. Having to copy and paste the frame 3 times every frame onto a phone, having to draw the girl character in the background on the mirror doing the same actions, blehhh.

When I animated that shot of her face taking up the whole frame originally, the hair was going to the right, so that meant I had to erase and redraw every single frame of her hair going to the left because she's not in the mirror anymore.
